A Brief Introduction to RM

The RoboMaster is a robotic competition held by the DJI and later on by the Committee of the Chinese university robot competition.

In the The RoboMaster University Championship (RMUC) , participating teams will independently develop different types of robots with various functions to face off on the battlefield. Each team’s participants will control their robots to attack the opponent’s robots and Base by launching projectiles. At the end of the match, the team with the highest remaining Base HP wins.

There are overall 7 classes of robots: Hero, Infantry, Engineer, Sentry, Dart system, Radar system and Drone.

The rule for the sentry robot have overgone a dramatic change at the begging of the 2023 season. So the mechanical design of the 2023 sentry robot have to redesign totally.

Considering that the efficiency of the Mecanum wheel sets is relatively low, the chassis choose to develop our own synchro-drive wheel system. Due to the limitations of the competition, this robot have two launching mechanisms which are placed side-by-side. To enable it to build maps and navigate, a MID-360 omnidirectional laser radar is placed at the midst of the yaw axis of the robot’s gimbal.

During the 2023 season, this robot have made the progress from 0 to 1. And thanks to its outstanding performance, our team got the national first prize of the sentry robot.
